Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro Specs, Features, Price and Release Date

Google just revealed its upcoming Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro flagship phones. Surprisingly, Google is going with “Pro” rather than previous-gen “XL” models for the new Pixel 6. But new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will have exciting design and colour options once released. Although Google hasn’t disclosed specifications yet, but it’s expected to have significant changes in hardware specs. Also, both variants of Pixel 6 will have a new “Tensor” processor that will improve the overall performance of phones.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro (Rumoured) Spec and Features:

Google Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch FHD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Whereas, Pixel 6 Pro expected to have a 6.7-inch QHD+ display with a high refresh rate of 120Hz. You will find the in-screen fingerprint sensor on Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, both.

This fall, Google wants to stay ahead of the competition in the flagship phones market, and so they add some excellent camera specs. You can expect a 50MP wide camera sensor plus 12MP ultra-wide rear cameras in the Pixel 6 model. You will also get an 8MP punch-hole selfie camera for the base pixel 6 version. Similarly, Pixel 6 Pro will have a 50MP wide camera sensor along with 48MP (4X optical-zoom) telephoto lens and 12MP ultra-wide rear cameras. But Pixel 6 Pro is expected to have a 12MP front selfie camera for a better and crisper picture. Both, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will support the 4K video recording if it comes with rumoured camera specs.

Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will come with a pre-loaded new Android 12 (Material You) operating system. Both Pixel models will have 128GB and 256GB variants, but the “Pro” model will have an additional 512GB variant. However, Google Pixel 6 will have 8GB RAM, whereas Pixel 6 Pro will have 12GB of RAM.

There will be no surprise if Google throws a fast charger and wireless charging support to the Pixel 6 series.

Tensor is Google’s in-house developed SoC (System-on-Chip), previously known as the “Whitechapel” project. Unlikely Apple’s Silicon M1 Chip, Google designed the “Tensor” chip to optimise the device performance. So in future, you will see Tensor chip in more devices like smartwatches, phones, tablets and Chromebook laptops.

Google’s “Tensor” chip is expected to improve functionality such as camera image processing and 5G performance. Also, Tensor may improve the battery life for its Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel Buds, and Chromebook. Of course, Google Smart Home devices are no different and will benefit from the new Tensor SoC.

Indeed, Google electronics will get LTS (Long-Term Support) for software updates with the newly designed Tensor chip. So you will have more life of Google gadgets like Pixel phones, tablets and computers. But you have to take it with a grain of salt as it may cost you a little more than previous-gen devices.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, Google’s upcoming new Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro looks promising compared to the current market trend. But better to wait for the official specifications and features information before coming to any conclusion.

However, the “Tensor” chip seems the focus of the new Pixel series, which you may see in other devices too in future. Google is building a whole ecosystem like Apple, and the future is there. You won’t feel surprised even when you see EV vehicles like cars and scooters in future manufactured by Google.
